The view from the train’s windows offers the most breathtaking sights: imposing mountain cliffs and striking green rivers which stand out among the wonderful landscape will leave you with beautiful memories and pictures to share with your loved ones.
Your journey starts at Åndalsnes Railway Station, where a train host will welcome you on board the Golden Train. As the train leaves from Åndalsnes it weaves through the beautiful scenery at a relaxed pace to enable you to take in the view and capture the high peaks of Trollveggen, the iconic Kylling bridge and the sublime Verma waterfalls.
As you go, the train host will share the stories of the train itself which was secretly used by Norwegians during World War II to transport gold away from German hands at the time of occupation. You will also be provided with more fascinating information on the train’s historical impact and symbolism as well as about the people who have dared to settle among the sharp peaks and brave the river’s current.
Before returning to Åndalsnes, a quick stop of about 30 minutes at Bjorli station, will give you the opportunity to step outside and appreciate the Norwegian peaceful nature.
