South Coast & Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon

This incredible tour will take you to South Iceland’s coast along small farmlands that cuts between mountains, glaciers and the vast Atlantic Ocean.

Enjoy a boat ride on the glacial lagoon, sailing close to large icebergs and experiencing the calm and beauty of this unique place. The lagoon was formed as the Breiðarmerkurjökull glacier slowly melted, leaving behind floating icebergs of many shapes and sizes. On the way, you will pass beautiful landscapes, including Iceland’s highest mountain, Hvannadalshnjúkur, and wide black sand plains near Skaftafell.

Icebergs from Vatnajökull glacier regularly break off and drift across the lagoon, creating a truly memorable sight. The quiet movement of the ancient ice, some of it over 1,000 years old, gives the area a peaceful atmosphere. The lagoon is large and deep.

The tour also includes stops at two famous waterfalls. At Seljalandsfoss, you can walk behind the waterfall. Skógafoss is another powerful waterfall and a popular hiking starting point.

There will also be stops at Freysnes for dinner (not included) and in Vík í Mýrdal, where you can see the Reynisdrangar rock formations.
