Join a guided RIB/Zodiac boat safari to Saltstraumen and experience sea eagles up close!
This 2-hour guided excursion will leave you speechless. Saltstraumen is the world's strongest tidal current and requires upmost caution upon approach. Depending on conditions, you will glide onto the turbulent water. The strength of the tidal current varies from tour to tour.
Did you know that the current can on an average day gain speeds up to 20 knots which can create whirlpools up to 10 metres in diameter? This is an attraction that should absolutely not be missed when visiting Bodø!
While exploring the area, your guide will keep an eye open for the white-tailed eagles which commonly perch around the cliffs of Saltstraumen. These eagles are Northern Europe's largest bird of prey with their wing span boasting up to 2,4 metres! Meanwhile, the guide will explain about the area, tell you interesting stories connected to Bodø, how Saltstraumen works and what causes it, and much more.
