Join this exciting adventure into an ice cave under a glacier; the trip up and down is by snowcat, a unique and fun vehicle.
You will be picked at your hotel up by your guide in the snowcat, a tracked all-terrain vehicle, and brought up to the Longyear Glacier. Equipped with a headlamp, you will descend into the meltwater channels within the glacier and a fascinating frozen world appears for you. The cave changes from year to year and you never know what type of formations have been created. Generally, it is possible to walk a couple of hundred meters; often, the passage opens up to show a cathedral like world of snow and ice. The adventure isn’t over when coming out again: enjoy more of the drive by snowcat and a photo stop with stunning views over Longyearbyen and the imposing mountain Hjorthfjell where you will be served a hot beverage and some biscuits.
