Discover the flavours, traditions and spectacular landscapes that have made Hardanger Norway's cider capital. This scenic excursion takes you to the picturesque village of Ulvik, where fertile orchards, dramatic mountains and the tranquil waters of the fjord create ideal conditions for apple growing.
Accompanied by a local guide, you will learn about the history, culture and everyday life of the Hardanger region and discover how its unique climate has helped develop one of Norway’s most celebrated food and drink traditions.
Your first stop is Syse Gard, a family-run farm where generations have cultivated the land. Here, you’ll enjoy tastings of apple juice and cider, accompanied by a selection of local cured meats and regional specialities. You will also have time to visit the farm shop and browse its homemade products.
The experience continues through the beautiful orchard landscape towards Lekve Gard. Guests with normal mobility can follow a guided walk through the orchards, passing fascinating Bronze Age burial sites along the way, while an alternative, shorter route is available.
At Lekve Gard, recognised as the first farm in Norway to produce cider commercially, you will enjoy apple cake alongside further tastings of locally produced cider and spirits.
Combining beautiful fjord scenery, local history and authentic flavours, this excursion offers a wonderful introduction to the traditions and agricultural heritage of Hardanger.
