2: Hike to Lake Bondhusvatnet

Follow the historic Ice Road into the heart of Folgefonna National Park on a scenic hike through Bondhusdalen. Surrounded by dramatic mountains, waterfalls and glacier-carved landscapes, this excursion combines spectacular scenery with fascinating local history.

After a scenic drive from Rosendal, you will begin your hike along the historic Ice Road, built in 1863 to transport glacier ice from Bondhusbreen towards the fjord. Your guide will share stories about the traditional ice trade and the people who once worked in this remote landscape.

The trail winds through forests and along rivers, with waterfalls cascading down the mountainsides. The highlight of the hike is Bondhusvatnet, a beautiful glacier-fed lake offering impressive views of the surrounding mountains, waterfalls and Bondhusbreen glacier.
