Discover Ålesund from both sea and summit with this unforgettable kayak-and-hike adventure. Paddle across to Hessa Island before setting off on a scenic hike to Mt. Sukkertoppen, where panoramic views reward your effort. Along the way, enjoy a local lunch served with a stunning view.
The trip begins in central Ålesund, where you will be provided with all necessary equipment and a short safety briefing. You will start by paddling a kayak through the Brosundet canal, passing the town’s distinctive Art Nouveau architecture. As you leave the canal, the scenery opens up to reveal stunning views of the Sunnmøre Alps and Slinning Point, where the famous Slinning bonfire takes place every year.
Next, you will paddle to Hessa Island and begin the hike up Mount Sukkertoppen. Halfway through the hike, you will stop for a local picnic lunch with an unforgettable view.
The trail to the summit of Mount Sukkertoppen is over easy terrain with a moderate elevation gain. Upon reaching the top, you will be rewarded with amazing views of Ålesund and the nearby islands. You will then hike back to the kayaks and paddle back to the starting point.
Whether you are an outdoor enthusiast or want to experience Ålesund from a new perspective, this tour is perfect for everyone who wants to explore the area in an active, adventurous way.
