Enjoy a guided mini expedition in the fun snowcat, a tracked all-terrain vehicle, that will take you up to the fantastic viewpoint Linken - either during sunset or under the midnight sun.
When the snowcat arrives, there is no doubt whether this is your tour or not! The guide will welcome you on board, and after a short briefing, you will head out of town and make a first stop at the polar bear sign. Then you soon continue off the beaten track. The goal for the tour is the amazing viewpoint Linken up the side of the mountain Hiorthfjellet on the other side of the Adventdalen valley. Once you arrive at the viewpoint, you will take a break and enjoy the fabulous views towards Longyearbyen while the guide serves hot drinks. Until April 18, the tour takes place during sunset; seeing the sun sink closer and closer to the mountains on the other side of the Isfjord, and the sky changing colour from blue to red, then lilac and orange is just magical. From April 19, if the sky is clear, you will hopefully see the unique Arctic landscape bathed in the midnight sun. While you enjoy the view, your guide will tell you about life on Svalbard, both today and in the past.
