Join a king crab culinary experience in Tromsø on this guided excursion.
On this guided transfer, you will be picked up from the city centre and transferred to Æra panorama glass lodge. The transfer itself is around 35 minutes per way and takes you along the fjords and through the mountains. The guide will present himself, what you are to expect and offers insight into the surroundings you are passing by.
King crabs have a strong and long history in Norwegian waters. Althogh Norway is famous for having some of the tastiest seafood in the water, there is much more to it. The most popular marine life found in Northern Norway waters is the notorious red King Crab.
The red King Crab is the largest species of king crab, and the largest recorded reached a carapace width of up to 28cm and a leg span of 1,8 metres. However, today, red king crabs infrequently surpass 17 cm.
Upon arrival, you will be lead to the indoor saltwater aquarium to choose your crabs. The talented chefs will now prepare the crabs in front of you while the guide shares stories of the king crabs prevalence as a natural resource and how they made their journey from Kamchatka to Kirkenes.
The freshly cooked crab is then served alongside bread, butter, lemons and mayonnaise - exactly as the Norwegians like it!
