Looking for a unique way to experience Ålesund? Join a 6-hour kayak and hike tour – the perfect adventure for active travellers!
The trip starts in the heart of Ålesund, where you will be equipped with all necessary gear and receive a short safety briefing. First you will paddle a kayak through the lovely Brosundet Canal. Along the way you will see the typical Ålesund Art Nouveau architecture. When coming out of the canal you will be treated to a beautiful view of the Sunnmøre Alps and the Slinning Point, where the famous Slinning bonfire takes place every year.
Next, you will paddle to Hessa Island and begin the hike up Mount Sukkertoppen. Halfway through the hike, you will stop for a local picnic lunch with an unforgettable view.
The trail to the summit of Mount Sukkertoppen is over easy terrain with a moderate elevation gain. Upon reaching the top, you will be rewarded with amazing views of Ålesund and the nearby islands. You will then hike back to the kayaks and paddle back to the starting point.

Wetsuit, kayak, paddle, spray skirt, life jacket, dry bag (not for rentals), spray jacket (on request), local lunch.
Bring: Good shoes suitable for hiking on natural terrain, small backpack, wind- and waterproof jacket, warm fleece or wool sweater, bottle of water, camera, hat and gloves, sunglasses and sunscreen.
Safety regulations: You must be able to swim; average fitness lever required, maximum weight of 120 kg.
Weather dependent: All outdoor activities are weather dependent and may be cancelled or replaces by more suitable alternatives should the conditions prevent the tour from running as planned. A full refund will be made for activities cancelled by the supplier due to weather conditions.
