Hurtigruten - Arctic Superior Cabin
Hurtigruten’s Arctic Superior cabins are outside cabins (window) that are located on upper decks. All cabins are renovated and include a double bed or twin beds, as well as private bathroom with shower/WC.
The cabins on board Hurtigruten are basic, but comfortable.
If booking the full voyage (Bergen-Kirkenes-Bergen or Bergen-Kirkenes-Trondheim) it is possible to choose a specific cabin number (included in the price from April 1 2026).
If booking a half voyage (Bergen-Kirkenes or Kirkenes-Bergen), an additional cost applies if booking a specific cabin number.
Only unspecified cabins are bookable on shorter stretches, but kindly note that Arctic Superior cabins are generally only bookable 42 days before travel for the shorter stretches.
The term unspecified cabin category means that one cannot pre-book a specific cabin type or number, nor the deck where the cabin is located. The cabin will be assigned to you upon check-in.
Hurtigruten operates 7 of the 11 ships that sail the Norwegian coastal route. Combined with Havila’s 4 ships there are daily departures from each port along the Norwegian coast between Bergen and Kirkenes and back again. Hurtigruten’s 7 ships are:

- MS Nordlys (all decks renovated in 2019)
- MS Kong Harald (deck 4-6 renovated in 2016)
- MS Nordkapp (deck 4-6 renovated in 2016)
- MS Nordnorge (deck 4-6 renovated in 2016)
- MS Polarlys (deck 4-6 renovated in 2016)
- MS Vesterålen(soft renovation of shared areas in 2019)
Facilities:
Hurtigruten, the original Norwegian coastal express, is served by a fleet of 7 ships. All of them are working ships, transporting goods in addition to passengers. Since the ships will also call to ports during the night, some noise might occur. The facilities provided by the ships are uniform, but the choice of colours, materials and design means that each ship retains its own character.
They have large, comfortable lounges providing good views, fully licensed restaurants, cafés and bars, and souvenir shops that also sell a selection of toiletries. All have a panorama lounge/bar located on the top deck.
The majority of the ships also have outdoor Jacuzzis, fitness rooms and saunas for passengers. The very newest ships have several bars, restaurants and cafés with varied menus, extended conference facilities and internet cafés. All the ships, with the exception of MS Vesterålen, have good facilities for disabled people and have lifts.
