Vaattunki Wilderness Resort is nestled along the scenic rapids of the Raudanjoki River, surrounded by lush shoreline forests and untouched Arctic nature. Situated about 20 minutes from Rovaniemi city centre, the resort offers a peaceful retreat within the Arctic Circle, making it an ideal location for Northern Lights viewing and experiencing the serenity of Lapland’s wilderness.
The Aurora Cabin Igloos offer a unique and comfortable way to experience the natural beauty of Lapland. Each igloo is 27 m², designed to accommodate 1-2 guests, with the option of a sofa bed (140-150 cm) for 1-2 additional people. It features a thermal glass roof, allowing you to observe the sky from the warmth and privacy of your own bed. Amenities include a private bathroom with a hot shower, bathrobes, kettle, coffee machine, TV, Wi-Fi, heating and air conditioning.
The cosy onsite Niva restaurant invites you to step in and enjoy delicious food in a warm atmosphere. The restaurant focuses on using fresh, locally sourced ingredients that represent the natural variety of Lapland. The menu features wild herbs, berries and sustainably sourced meats and fish, prepared to emphasise the region’s distinct flavours. Attention to quality and seasonality is central, aiming to provide an authentic Arctic dining experience.
At the resort you can simply relax and breathe in the fresh air, try the saunas, or take the opportunity to experience exciting winter activities such as dog sledding, reindeer sledding and snowmobile tours. The resort is a gateway for the Arctic Circle Hiking Area. You can discover the marked hiking trails surrounded by the resort, and the diverse network offers something for every taste – from short strolls to longer hikes. You can rent snowshoes or forest skis to make your day outdoors even more interesting. The private island next to the resort – where there is no light pollution from the city – is the best place to see Northern Lights.
A shuttle (additional costs apply) is provided once a day between Vaattunki Wilderness Resort, Santa Claus Village and Rovaniemi city centre from December to March, and must be arranged by 18:00 hrs the previous day at the latest.
